Kericho County is located in the rift valley of Kenya, 170 kilometers north-west of Nairobi. It covers an area of 2,454.5km2. Kericho is best known for Agriculture with tea being the main cash crop grown in large scale, making Kenya the world’s number one black tea exporter. Other cash crops grown in Kericho include sugarcane, coffee, pineapples, maize and vegetables. Agriculture has provided many job opportunities to the youths in this county. It is in this county where Mau forest, which is the Kenya’s greatest water catchment area lies, gives rise to some of the major rivers that flow out among them being Ewaso Ng’iro, Sondu, Mara, and Njoro River.
