Laikipia is a Maasai word equivalent to trees plain reflecting its large highland plateau. The County is a cosmopolitan with close to 23 communities inclusive of Rendille, Samburu, Somali, Maasai, Kikuyu & Kalenjin. The county is located on the equator, with Nanyuki & Nyahururu as its major urban centers, & its headquarters in Rumuruti.
